However we will use the term "matching" since the principle of awase must be applied to many aspects of the practice of aikido, such as, timing, distance, position, direction, speed, power and spirit. The first purpose of Awase is to lead uke. One cannot lead without first joining. One cannot join without matching. This video presents exercises that reveal the importnace of awase and further provides application through technique examples.

The main program, "Awase" is 30 minutes in length. Also included is another 60 minutes of tutorials on the same theme.
